December 30, 2021
Colin Phillips passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021 at the age of 76 with his family by his side. Colin will be remembered as a kind and generous person who loved to share a laugh and never failed to have a handful of candy ready to share with his grandchildren.
Colin will be fondly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Marie (née Campbell); sons Justin (Angelene), Ryan (Leanne), and Ashley (Jessica); grandchildren, Mercedes, Tristan, Miya, Rhys and Kai; brother Earle (Ahmoral); nieces, nephews and extended family. Colin is predeceased by his sister, Janet.
Colin was born in Wynberg, Cape Town, South Africa where he met his wife, Marie. In 1972, Colin and Marie were married at Victoria Falls, Rhodesia and they immigrated to Canada later that year. In 1979, Colin and Marie moved their family to Castlegar, BC where Colin worked for Teck Cominco for 25 years. He loved coaching soccer and was past president of Kiwanis. In retirement, Colin enjoyed golfing with friends at the Castlegar Golf Club, gardening, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the wonderful care and support given by Dr. Smart and the staff at Talarico Place. The family would also like to express their gratitude for all of the thoughtful messages, phone calls, flowers, cards and food trays they have received.
The family will not be holding a service at this time; however, a Celebration of Life will be planned for summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any expression of sympathy take the form of a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.
