Deirdre Dawn (nee Eddy) Pantages

Pantages: Deidre Dawn Pantages (nee Eddy) a long-time resident of Castlegar, passed away peacefully at Castleview Care Centre on February 22, 2010. Dawn was born on April 4, 1928 in New Westminster, British Columbia, where she attended Duke of Connaught High School. She attained her teaching certificate from Vancouver Normal School. Dawn was a dedicated teacher and taught at Kennedy Elementary School in Delta and Edgewood Elementary School. However, most of her teaching career was spent at Ootischenia Elementary School in Castlegar.


Dawn was an avid reader and volunteered at the Castlegar and District Public Library for a number of years. She also loved gardening and trying new recipes.


She is survived by her two sons Jeff (Joann) from Anchorage, Alaska and Paul (Nampung) from Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica (Jonathan Nielsen), Daniel (Kathleen Kehoe), Lauren, Ampa and Apinya, and her sister Gerry Swenson from Ladner, BC. She was preceded in death by her parents Melville and Viola Eddy.


Donations may be made to the Castlegar and District Public Library, 1005 3rd Street, Castlegar, BC V1N 2A2, in Dawn’s name and would be appreciated by the family.
