April 19, 1928 - December 14, 2021
Donna Archibald passed away peacefully at Castleview Care Centre on December 14, 2021, after 93 full and active years of life. Donna was born on April 19, 1928, in Trail, BC, to parents Mable and Robert Clelland.
Donna and her older siblings Cliff and Rene lived in Rossland, BC, until 1941 when the family moved to Trail.
Donna met 'The Love of Her Life', Gerry Archibald, during high school. On July 15th, 1950, Donna and Gerry were married. They lived in Trail for a period of time while they built their first home in the Dumont Subdivision of Kinnaird, BC. In 1954, their first and only child, Greg, was born.
Donna began her teaching career in 1946. She taught elementary school children in both the Trail and Castlegar school districts before retiring in 1986.
Music was a major part of Donna's life. She loved to sing and taught herself to play piano; both skills she used in presenting many school concerts.
Retirement years were special for Donna. She and Gerry had many vacations motor homing with friends, and made several trips to the UK. She was delighted to have three granddaughters to play with and they, in turn, adored her.
Donna is survived by her son, Greg Archibald (Barbara), granddaughters Kathryn Archibald (Sean) and Caroline Stuart (Ty) and great granddaughters Addison and Sawyer and grandson Torin. She is predeceased by her husband, Gerry, granddaughter Christine Archibald, brother Clifford Clelland, and sister Laurene Swingler.
A burial Mass will be scheduled at a future date when Donna's family is able to come together to attend her funeral.
Donna's family is most grateful for the care and kindness of Dr. Vasil and the staff at Castleview Care Centre. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence on the family's online register at www.castlegarfuneral.com
