In Loving Memory ~

Our beloved mother, Doris, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, and is now reunited with her late husband and soul mate William (Bill) Gladstone Jewitt Jr. Born in Edmonton, Doris travelled with her family for much of her youth, living in Tofield, Camrose, Saskatoon, and Calgary.

She met Bill at the University of Alberta (Edmonton) where they shared an interest in performing arts before she graduated with a BSc (household economics).

She and Bill followed his career with Cominco, living in Kimberley, BC, and Regina, SK, but mainly in Trail, BC. They shared a love of life, outdoors, family, and friends.

Much of their fun centered around events that they hosted - sing-along evenings, dinner parties, bridge with friends, and most especially with the focus of their life, their 4 children. Their home was the center of many joyful multi-generational family visits. All these gatherings included wonderful meals, all made entirely in her kitchen.

Each summer Doris arranged exquisite bouquets from the many flower gardens that she and Bill grew. Each fall she spent weeks preparing a bounty of family favourite meals and baking for the Christmas season. She was also an excellent seamstress, and she created wonderful party dresses that delighted her young granddaughters.

She greeted new neighbours with fresh baking, and volunteered for a time with the Trail Regional Hospital Auxiliary as a porter and as part of their bandage rolling team.

She is survived and dearly missed by sister Doreen Shouldice-Nep, brother Bill (Sheilagh) Carver, brother-in-law John (Helen) Jewitt, and the family tree she and Bill nurtured - children Jim (Janet), Jane, Joan (Bill), Jeff (Lynn), grandchildren Meghan (Brendan), Elaine (Ryan), Sheila (Jonathan), Premala (Nadine), Brendan (Camille), Shane (Julia), Bailey, and great-grandchildren Ethan, Joel, Natalie, Amalya, Riyan, Ash, and Rowan. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, David Barker.

At her request, no public service is planned. At the family's request, please do not send flowers.
