1946-2020 ~ It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Doug Coulson who passed away suddenly in his home on March 31st 2020.
Doug was born in 1946 and raised in Ontario into a large and loving family. He moved to Castlegar B.C. in 1965 and this is where he would meet his future wife Linda.
Doug was an electrician by trade and was employed by Teck Cominco ltd in Trail B.C. for 35 yrs. During this time, he worked as a tradesmen then later a supervisor. After his retirement in 2002, Doug spent the majority of the following 11 years as a project planner at Teck.
Aside from his family, Doug's other passion was sports. He will be remembered in the community as a longtime minor hockey coach and for his time as president of Castlegar Minor Hockey and Vice president of the West Kootenay Hockey Association. Doug also spent 10 years coaching girls softball in Castlegar. Doug also enjoyed ATVing and Thursday afternoons at Cartrights pub with his closest friends Greg Nedelec, Donny Deschene, Tom Lucas, Gary Leveridge and his son Ryan. He was blessed with a pleasant personality and a great sense of humour which brought him many friends wherever he happened to be in life.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Linda of 54 years. His son Sean of Vernon B.C. His Daughter Marti (Ken) of Esterhazy Sask. His son Ryan (Samantha) of Castlegar B.C. His Sister Shelva Seguin of Red Deer Alb, His Brother Gerry Coulson of Oliver B.C. and his sister Sandra (Ron) Cenerini of Atikokan Ont. 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His Cousin and close friend Gary (Marcie) Leveridge of Castlegar B.C. Sister-in-law Lori (Sandy) Findlay of Genelle B.C. Sister-in-law Sharon Chumm of Kamloops B.C. and Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Relatives.
Doug was a loving family man who saw the positives in everyone and influenced so many lives, he will be forever missed.
