In loving memory ~
It is with sad hearts that we share the passing of our mother and grandmother Edith Christiansen at Castleview Care Center, British Columbia on February 14, 2023 at the age of 92. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was born on April 14, 1930, in Fusilier, Saskatchewan. Edith was the daughter to Paulina and John Greenwald who were farmers. She had 5 brothers and 5 sisters. When her brothers were called o to the 2nd World War, she did a lot of the work that her brothers would have done. She learned to drive live horses, plowing fields and harrowing. As well as attending to the harvest with stoking and pitching bundles at the threshing. The whole family pitched in and neighbors gave a hand as well. Edith was a physiotherapist, nurses aid and had quite a few other part-time jobs in her lifetime.
On January 24, 1959, she married her husband of 56 years, Holgar Christiansen. They had 2 sons Richard and Greg and one granddaughter Mischa. Holgar passed away in March 2015.
The family would like to thank the staff at Castleview Care Center for the compassionate care that Edith received while staying there.
Celebration of life will be held at 1 pm on Friday, April 14th at Rockyview Garden of Peace, Choices Funeral Home, Calgary, Alberta.
