February 26, 1945 - September 11, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin John (Ted) McAfee. Ted passed away peacefully on Sept 11, 2024 at Talarico Place with family by his side.

Ted was born in Regina, Sask. on Feb.26, 1945 and was the eldest of five siblings. The family moved to Nelson when Ted was a young boy and then to Richmond when he was a teenager. As a youth, he was involved with Army reserves and later served with the NATO forces in Vietnam. Ted also enjoyed football and was actually drafted by Saskatchewan but due to an early childhood injury that left him with an artificial kneecap, was unable to play pro.

Ted moved his family to Castlegar in the early 1970's and over the decades he operated several businesses, was involved with minor hockey, Lions club and later took up golf. He also loved to travel, once even hitchhiking to Mexico.

Ted was a well-educated man who enjoyed learning, earning technical certificates in various fields and mastering many trades in his lifetime.

He was also was a loving, devoted man with a sarcastic, goofy sense of humour who was always helping others, whether with advice and experience or physical acts. He was a compassionate, loyal man that was well respected and admired in the community and he will be sadly missed by all those that knew him.

Ted leaves behind his loving wife Sandy, sons Shayne & Jon and daughter Tara, brother Rick, sister Daisy, as well as blended family members Chynna, Shane and Chris, extended family and friends.

As per Ted's request he will be cremated and no service will be held.

I would like to thank Dr. Vassil and all the staff at Talarico for everything you did for Ted.

In lieu of flowers you may donate to the ALS society at www.alsbc.ca on Teds behalf.
