Feb 26, 1930 - Jan 17, 2018
With family at her bedside, Elaine Kurenoff passed away at Talerico care home in Castlegar, on January 17, 2018.

Elaine was born in Ootishenia on February 26, 1930 to parents Alex and Nettie Lactin. Following her marriage to Andy Kurenoff they settled in Crescent Valley, built a home and raised her family.

Elaine is survived by husband Andy, sons Ron (Maureen), Ken (Kim), grandsons Gavin, Garrett, Quentin, Lincoln, sisters Nettie Nazaroff, Marg Poohachoff and Virginia Ingram.

Mom was a kind, gentle, caring person who was very involved in her community, volunteering for many duties and committees. She spent many years as a caretaker of the Crescent Valley Hall and a member of the ladies funeral cooking group.

She was a member of the Crescent Valley Recreation Commission and was involved in bringing the first organized baseball league to the Slocan Valley, the annual Slocan River raft race weekend in July, as well as the ladies five pin bowling league in South Slocan. Mom would also crochet quilts and send them to underprivileged countries.

In her later years her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandsons. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them. She will be remembered for her generosity towards others and her kindness and love for family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A family service and interment will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to thank Talerico staff. Mom, you were deeply loved and will be greatly missed by your family.
