It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Fannie Stoochnoff at Castleview Care Centre on May 3, 2019 at the age of 92.
Mom was born at Brilliant in 1926 to Pete and Helen (Kereiff ) Cheveldave and was the eldest of four children. She lived in Trail and Robson between 1930 and 1940. The family settled permanently at Robson in 1941.
In March of 1947, Mom married the love of her life, Nick Stoochnoff and together they raised a daughter and four sons in Castlegar.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Nick, mother Helen Cheveldave, father Pete Cheveldave, sister Vera Konkin, and brothers Joseph and Peter.
Mom is survived by daughter Elaine (Ralph), sons Jon, Don, Richard (Naida) and Cecil, grandchildren Kim (Troy), Chris (Tracey), Ryan, Amber, Jesse, Katerina (Mo), four great-grandchildren, and many loving friends and relatives. Special mention to lifelong friend Edie Dunn and Mom's niece Vera Popoff.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lisa Vasil, the staff at Castleview Care Center...the care aides, nurses, kitchen staff and administrative personnel for the outstanding attention and loving care provided to our mother.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Fannie on Friday, May 10, 2019, 10:30 am at Castlegar Funeral Chapel with interment at Park Memorial Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #170, 248 Columbia Avenue, Castlegar, BC. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca/ Castlegar Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
