It's with sadness that we announce the passing of Fiona Isabell Garner (Stewart) after a two-year battle with cancer.
Fiona was born in Castlegar BC to Mary and John Stewart She is survived by her mother, Mary and brothers, Archie (Jocelyn) and Ian (Shirley).
Fiona spent her growing years in Castlegar. At 19 she went to Victoria BC where she learned to waitress, bartend and manage restaurants. After about ten years Fiona moved to Nanaimo where she continued in the food industry until being stopped by her illness.
Fiona had many friends, the most cherished being her beloved dog, Angus, who predeceased her. With her friends Fiona enjoyed boating around the beautiful waters of Nanaimo, participating in music/band nights, attending concerts, home decorating, and going to a party or two.
Her family wants to thank her friends and the BC Cancer community who were there for her during her illness.
There will not be a service. Her family plans to spread her ashes in the Nanaimo area in springtime.
