FLORENCE MARY DESAULNIERS (NEE LAMPARD)

Florence Mary Desaulniers (nee Lampard) passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 25th.

Florence was predeceased by husband Ralph, parents Albert and Alice Lampard, sister Winifred and brothers William, Alfred and Leslie.

She is survived by son Edward (Laurie) of Sparwood, daughters Gaye Chaves (Eduardo) of Castlegar and Faye Hill (Bill) of Kamloops, grandsons Jasson (Raechel) and Kevin (Lisa) Chaves and great grandchildren Raylene, Austin, Zoey and Jordana, also extended family Stephen, Tara and Jayden. Also surviving her are brother Tom Lampard (Denise), sister Laura Richards (Albert), sister Betty Lutz (Alex) and special niece Janet Poznikow, all of Castlegar and many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews who will miss their Auntie Flo.

Mum was born May 20, 1928 at her parent’s home at the William Waldie & Sons millsite where her father worked as a millwright. She resided her whole life in Castlegar except for a few months spent in Vancouver for hairdresser training and 13 months spent in the Tranquille Sanitorium in Kamloops for treatment of tuberculosis.

Mum was a homebody whose greatest pleasures were times spent with family. She will be remembered for her caring nature and ready smile, her love of animals and her awesome knitting.

Due to deteriorating health, Mum moved to Castle Wood Village last year and could be found playing the horse races, scorekeeping for carpet bowling or enjoying the musical entertainment.

We invite you to join us in a celebration of her life on Thursday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Castle Wood Village. In lieu of flowers a donation to a children’s charity would be appreciated. We would also like to sincerely thank the staff at Castle Wood Village for their excellent care and compassion shown to Mum.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
