In Loving Memory ~
George passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024 (just shy of his 94th birthday) in the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, AB. He will be missed by all his friends and family.
George was born and raised in Vernon, BC. He did his training and became an electrician. While working in the lower mainland on constructions projects he met Bobbie, the love of his life. They were married on July 23, 1955. They had 3 children while living in New Westminster and a few years later he got a job to be part of the crew to build the pulp mill in Castlegar.
When the construction was completed George was asked to stay on as an electrician there. After landing a full time job at the pulp mill the family moved to Robson where they settled to raise the family. George worked as an electrician for many years at the pulp mill and then moved on to the electrical foreman position at the sawmill.
Bobbie's sister and her husband owned a boating business in Delta, BC so in 1978 George changed his career path and they moved to Delta to join them and be part of the boating business. While working there he found time to build himself a 28 ft cabin cruiser and they had many boating adventures while they were there. He also learned to ride a motorcycle.
After retiring they moved back to Castlegar to build their dream home in Fairview and enjoyed boating , motorcycle riding and RVing. Unfortunately Bobbie passed in 2011 which left George on his own. George did a little traveling and some tours in his motorhome and found an old friend who was in need of his help.
Penny Davoren who was a long time family friend had lost her husband as well. After George and Penny reconnected he would occasionally go to Coaldale AB where she lived to help her out on her farm. A relationship developed and George decided to move to Coaldale where he lived until his passing.
Whether it was horses in Robson, boating in the Gulf Islands, motorcycle riding, RV tours in the Kootenays and even a houseboat on Arrow Lakes George loved to lead a full life.
George is survived by his sister Patricia (Tony) his sons Alan (Debbie) and Jeff (Jodi) his daughter Sharon (Glen), 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.
We would like to thank the staff of the Chinook Hospital in Lethbridge for their care of George.
