George Errol Hopkins
1920 - 2009
Born in Ernford, Sask. Oct 21st, 1920. Passed away in Trail Hospital May 26th, 2009 after a massive stroke.
George took all his schooling in Ernford & he joined the Lake Superior Regiment in 1940. He returned from Holland in Oct. of 1945. He was married to Dorathy Burroughs of Chaplin in Dec. at New Westminster, BC on Jan 2nd, they landed in Courval where he took over his brother's business. They left Courval for Pense Sask. in 1665 remaining there till 1973, when they moved to Castlegar.
He was employed at Castlegar Plumbing & Heating for sometime & then the Liquor Store until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his mother & father, 2 brothers & 2 sisters. He leaves his wife of 63 years; his son Barry; daughter Bonnie Kostron (Stan); 5 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Margaret Taverna & numerous nieces and nephews.
George was happy to see another spring & was able to sit in the backyard, enjoying his flowers & watching the birds.
Cremation has taken place, no funeral by request.
