December 31, 1933 - August 28, 2020
It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of their Mother/Grandmother Geraldine (Gerry) McMullen (nee DeFoe) at 86 years of age.
Born on December 31, 1933 in Grand Forks, BC, Gerry was an only child to Noah and Betty DeFoe. She was raised and attended school in Castlegar and went on to complete Business School in Trail.
Gerry's working career began as the Office Manager/Receptionist, sometimes Medical Assistant, at Dr. Ruebsaat's office in Castlegar and ended when she retired from Selkirk College.
Gerry met her husband of 61 years, Mel, at a wedding in Grand Forks, BC and together they raised their three children, Dan, Berni and Lori in Castlegar. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering and supporting her children's sporting activities from Minor Hockey and Figure Skating to the Castlegar Aquanauts.
Her support continued on during her years as a grandmother sharing her love for horses, dogs, cats and a game of crib.
Gerry loved sharing memories of tobogganing at the ranch, skating/swimming on/in the Columbia, attending school, stories of family and friends and so much more.
Gerry was predeceased by her husband Mel (in March of this year), her son Dan and her parents.
Left to mourn her loss are her daughters Berni (Joel) Nevakshonoff, Lori McMullen, grandchildren Liz McMullen, Crystal (Adam) Bressette, Josh McMullen (Tamara Doering), Dyllon Nevakshonoff (Marissa Kalamakoff), Tori Nevakshonoff, Brenda Ross and Alex Ross and several great grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by many, especially her four-legged friends that would stop by daily for a treat.
Due to Covid restrictions, there will not be a service at this time.
Forever in our hearts, Love you Mom.
