August 7, 1931 - February 4, 2025
In loving memory ~
Inga Lillian Lamont, a beacon of wisdom, creativity, and selfless service, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 93 on February 4th, 2025, exactly 73 years since she first met the love of her life, Jim, in Castlegar, B.C. Inga, born on August 7th, 1931, in Rossland, B.C. lived a life rich in education, dedication, and community involvement that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Family was the number one priority for Inga. This included her husband of 69 years, Jim (deceased), and their four children: Sandra, Rob, Shirley (Roger), Gord (Cym), 10 grandchildren (Lyle, deceased), and 16 great grand children.
Inga's passion for learning and her commitment to nurturing young minds led her to pursue a fulfilling career as a special education teacher; her dedication to her students was unparalleled, and she approached each day with the conviction that every child deserved the opportunity to reach their full potential. Inga's patience and innovative teaching methods inspired her colleagues and students alike, leaving a legacy of enriched lives and brighter futures.
Beyond the classroom, Inga was a woman of many talents and interests. An experienced knitter, her intricate patterns and colourful socks warmed the bodies and hearts of those around her. As a master gardener, Inga's hands turned the earth with care, cultivating not just plants but a sense of community and beauty that radiated throughout her neighbourhood.
She was an extraordinary volunteer, giving her time and energy to various community initiatives. Her selflessness and willingness to lend a hand made her a cherished figure in every organization she touched. Inga's wisdom and creativity shone through in her volunteer work, as she found innovative ways to solve problems and engage the community in meaningful projects.
Above all, Inga was selfless—a woman whose actions were always guided by her deep care for others. Inga's journey through life was one of purpose and joy, and though she may have left us in body, her essence remains a guiding light for us all.
