On Monday June 29,2020 James (Jim) Bonthron passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at the Trail Regional Hospital.
Jim is predeceased by his wife Faith in 1994. He will be greatly missed by his four daughters Judy (Gary) MacDonald, Calgary AB, Susan (Rick) Cullen, Calgary AB, Donna Bonthron, Kelowna BC, Carol (Frank) Costa, Castlegar BC, nine grandchildren, Ellen (Dana) Bruns, Calgary AB, Sarah (Jay) Winch, Calgary AB, Kenny (Candice) MacDonald, Calgary AB, Micheal (Christy) Cullen, Calgary
AB, Myles (Jenna) Cullen, Cochrane AB Stephanie Costa and Michael Cleare, Castlegar BC, Russell Costa and Michelle Li, Castlegar BC, Frank Costa and Samantha Kemle, Calgary AB, and ten great grandchildren.
Jim's work as a water well driller moved him and his family to all corners of British Columbia. In 1963 when his work brought him to Castlegar, he knew he was home.
His love of the Kootenays always had him scouting for the next best fishing hole or camping spot. He is best known for his quick wit and sense of humour. You knew Jim was around when you heard his infectious whistle. He loved hanging out with family and was always up to a rousing game of crib. Jim's loving and fun personality was best expressed when he was playing with the kids.
At the request of Jim, no funeral will take place. A private family Celebration of Life will be held on the Labour Day weekend.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the BC SPCA West Kootenay.
