August 28, 1935 - March 25, 2020
Sadly the family of James William (Bill) Bird, 84, of Castlegar, wish to announce his passing on 25 March, 2020 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Bill was born on August 28, 1935 in Trail, B.C. He was the son of the late George and Edith Bird and predeceased by his sister, Sheila Thederahn.
Bill's life was full of great memories shared by his family and the friends he met along his life's journey. He touched many people's lives in the community. He was good hearted and loved to socialize. Bill's greatest interest was hockey. As a child, he was inspired by watching his dad play hockey with the Trail Hockey Club. He was a lifelong fan of the Trail Smoke Eaters and the Castlegar Rebels.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his family, brother-in-law, Paul Thederahn; nephew, Paul (Connie) Thederahn; niece, Donna (Wayne) Nedjelski; nieces, Sandy and Shari Thederahn; 3 Great nieces, Tiana (Mel) Guerin, Cora-Lynn and Chantel Thederahn; Great nephew, Aaron (Nichole) Nedjelski; Great-Great nephews and nieces, Xylar, Kaisen, Cassia and Keira; as well as his extended family from the Kootenay Society for Community Living.
Memorial donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Kootenay Society of Community Living, 2224 6 Ave, Castlegar, BC V1N 2V9.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
