In Loving Memory ~
Jennie Christine Demeo (nee Bystrom) born April 22nd, 1934, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2021. It is with great sadness that the family of Jennie mourns the loss of a devoted wife, mother, Nonna, and great grandmother.
Jennie was born and raised in Nelson, BC, where she loved spending time swimming at Lakeside Park with her dog Buddy at her side. It was at Lakeside where Jennie met her beloved Silveo and settled in Castlegar where they raised their three children.
Jennie was a selfless individual who always put her children and family first, they were her everything. She took loving care of her in-laws and her father in their later years and supported her husband Silveo through his many health challenges.
Jennie enjoyed traveling and had great memories of visiting Iqaluit, where her son was nursing and experienced her first dog sled ride, cruised through the Panama Canal with her daughter and cruises to Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands with friends. She enjoyed her many friendships with her ladies lunch and dinner clubs.
Jennie had fond memories of the Father's Day picnics with the LeRose's, Maglio's, and extended family.
Jennie was an absolute dog lover and shared many stories of the dogs she cherished across her lifetime. She loved having family and friends over for dinner, was an excellent cook and beautifully recreated the recipes of her Italian mother-in-law.
Jennie felt so fortunate having her two youngest grandchildren Brian and Rachel living so close to her. They enjoyed many sleepovers, played card games and marathon Monopoly games with their Nonna. You always knew there would be an endless supply of homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies waiting.
Jennie will be deeply missed by her children Susan (Walter) Maluta and Steven (Vera) Demeo, grandchildren Christopher (Kelli), Justin (Tanya), Brian, Rachel (Carmen) and great grandchildren, Isaiah, Eliciah, Ava, Christian, and Olivia.
Predeceased by her husband Silveo, son Laurence and granddaughter Jennifer.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the wonderful staff at Rosewood Village for their care of Jennie.
As per Jennie's wishes, there will be no service.
