On May 9, 2018, peacefully in hospital with family at her bedside Joanne slipped away from the life she led with enthusiasm and joy. Her battle with cancer took her away too soon. Loving mother and grandmother, also known as "mom" by many of her sons' friends. Joanne's family meant everything to her and they were at the heart of every decision that she made.
There was not one day that went by where she was not thinking of others. She was selfless and always put everyone else first. Joanne was the rock of our family that could wipe away a tear and a wound. She truly had a heart of gold. Joanne really enjoyed the past 28 years working at the Spence Clinic, with the last 12 years with Dr. Donald Franchi caring for his patients.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her two sons John (Michelle) and Michael (Rachel), grandchildren Andrew, Chantal, Cole, Carter and baby Wesley, her sisters Laura Lee Sutherland and Charlene Haviland, brother Tom Haviland and loving partner of 17 years Dan Martin.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents Chuck and Lois Haviland, step-mother Paulette Cochrane, husband Dick Hargreaves, mother-in-law and father-in-law Mae and John Hargreaves and step-father-in-law Ernie Sandham.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Kathleen Simpson and her assistant Amy (RN) and all the nurses in 1A for their genuine care.
Service for Joanne was held Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. in the Sargent Family Reception Centre, 21 N. Court Street.
