Joe P Zaitsoff

2010, Joe P. Zaitsoff of Castlegar, peacefully passed away in his home at the age of 81 years. Funeral Service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 11:00 am will

Reverend Cynthia Dillen officiating.

Joe was born February 19, 1929 at Verigin, Sask. He moved to Nelson, BC, in 1941 where he lived with his family until moving to Robson a few years later. On June 30, 1951 he married the love of his life, Mary Kalesniko in Ymir BC. Together they lived in Robson until 1963 before moving to Castlegar where they built a

new home.

Joe’s passion was that of a carpenter and he soon built the reputa-

tion of being one of the best finishing carpenters in the area. He

left his mark on many homes and businesses in Castlegar and Trail areas.

Although carpentry was Joe’s specialty, he took a new path in 1971 and began working in the maintenance dept. for the Castlegar & District Hospital. There he continued until his retirement in 1991.

He enjoyed music, dancing, gardening, animal and loved his grand children.

Joe was predeceased by his parents Anne (1969) and Pete Zaitsoff (1993) and his wife Mary in 1996. He is survived by daughter Janet (Doug) Fellman, son Terry, granddaughter Brooke (Clay)

Molitwenik, and grandson Lane Fellman all of Castlegar. He is also survived by his brother Phil (Evelyn) Zaitsoff of Vernon, BC, his siter Diana (Mervin) Paluck of Grand Forks, BC, and many

nephews and nieces.

Joe will sadly missed but remembered for his sense of humour, love of children, generosity and caring for animals. Contributions can be made to the SPCA in his name.

Funeral arrangement were handled by the CastlegaBurial took place at Park Memorial Cemetery.
