August 17, 1924 - January 28, 2019
With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Johanna on January 28th. She is predeceased by her long-time partner Gaetano. She is survived by her children, Yvonne (Martin), Arthur and Karen, her granddaughter Jennifer, her great granddaughter Deirdre (Mack), and her great great grandchildren Kole and Tessa.
Johanna was born in Arnhem, the Netherlands in 1924 and emigrated to Canada in 1945. She spent many years living along the West coast of BC before settling in Castlegar with her family in 1960. Johanna loved to travel and took pleasure in road tripping around the Kootenays enjoying nature. She was an accomplished knitter and frequently donated her items to charity.
I have been on many journeys, sometimes near and sometimes far, but the best of all awaits me, out beyond the utmost star.
The family thanks Dr. Merritt and the wonderful staff at Castleview Care Centre for their kindness and care of Johanna in the last year of her life.
