In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Menard announce he passed peacefully at home August 5th, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Born in Prince Rupert, John moved to Castlegar at the age of 12, when his father began work at Celgar pulp mill. John finished school in 1966 and went back to Prince Rupert until returning to Castlegar to begin his career at Celgar in 1968. A highly skilled Tradesman, John enjoyed his time working, taking on multiple roles in all areas of the mill until retirement.
John was a family man first and foremost. When not working, the family enjoyed many activities including camping, travelling and boating. John was always most content in the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. From fishing in Prince Rupert to climbing mountains in search of big game, John thrived on the adventures and always came back with a truck full of food and hours of stories to share.
In retirement, John and Carol spent many happy hours golfing, RVing and spending winters in Arizona.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Carol; daughters Lori Magee (Glenn), Niki Menard; grandchildren Kieran, Sophia and Skylar.
He was predeceased by his parents Roger, Mona and sister Carol.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chi Zhang, Teresa Buckley, and all the Medical Professionals that supported John through all his health challenges through the years.
Cremation has taken place and no service by request.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in John's name can be made to the Heart, Kidney or Cancer Foundations or a charity of your choice.
