It is with great sadness that we announce the

passing of John William

Kavaloff. John was born September 11, 1929 in Champion Creek, B.C. and passed away January 23, 2017 in Trail, B.C.

John was a hard worker and a proud member of the Teamsters. He was straight shooter.

John loved to sing and was a member of several choirs for many years. He was a lifetime member of the USCC, and enjoyed his monthly ISKRA. His talents didn’t end with his baritone voice, but extended to the accordion and keyboards.

John was an avid gardener as well, and had a special technique when preparing the soil for planting. He directed any helpers, like the foreman he was, and ensured we knew this technique was the best and only way to prepare the soil. The results were spectacular. So, he was right again.

John loved walking with his dogs all over

Blueberry and missed this the most in recent years. He was a force of nature and we shall miss him every day and carry him in our hearts.

John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Emma, daughters Shirley, Clara (Greg), Wanda, Emily (Doug), and son John (Val), grandchildren Jason (Jill), Robert (Allysha), Vanessa (Rob), Sean, Jesse (Lisa), great granddaughter Talia, siblings Paul (June) and Bill, and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the following for their help and support: Bill Strilaeff and staff at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel, Peter Zaytsoff for

officiating, the cooks, staff and maintenance workers associated with the Brilliant Cultural Center, and to our family, friends and neighbors for all their love, support and condolences during this most difficult time. The family sends a very special thank you to Dad’s neighbors that have kept caring eyes on dad – Kevin & Tracey

Koorbatoff and Ed & Jenny Dinner. A service

was held on January 30, 2017 with interment following at Brillliant Cemetery.
