November 8, 1944 - April 7, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Joy Elva Grace Roshinsky. Mom left this world to be reunited with our Dad Ronald on April 7th, 2020 at the age of 75 years in Trail Hospital.
She will be dearly missed by her four children; son Kim Roshinsky (Connie Poohachoff) of Nakusp BC, her daughter Jody Storgaard (Quentin) of Castlegar, her daughter Loni Chernenkov (Ely) of Castlegar, and her daughter Heather Roshinsky (Curtis Brechin) of Castlegar BC. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, David Storgaard (Andrea), Jackie Storgaard, Kelsey Turner (Jennifer Bogstie), Taylor Turner (Danica), Randall Boisvert (Mike Buss), Jordan Boisvert, Brendan Roshinsky and Cody Chernenkov; and great-grandchildren, Elissa Storgaard, Emma Storgaard, Mya Storgaard, Memphis Storgaard, and Juliette Shale Roshinsky.
Joy was predeceased by her parents Carl and Theresa Shervey, brother Russell Shervey, sisters Marjory, Betty, Carol and Ayleen. Her brother-in-laws Edward Roshinsky, Clarence Roshinsky and his wife Lorraine, sister in laws Vivian Schneider, Teresa Roshinsky and Nataline Roshinsky, niece Charlene Roshinsky, grand nephew Joel Roshinsky as well as her father -in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Cecilia Roshinsky.
Joy was born in Chilliwack BC November 8th, 1944. Her parents moved around parts of BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan until they made their final home in Rutland BC. Joy even spent some of her younger years in Las Vegas with her sister Marjory.
In 1960, Joy married Ron and they started their family. Together, they moved to Winlaw in 1976 where they continued to raise their children until they were grown.
Joy was a proud mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to share her love of painting, sewing and anything crafty. Her amazing quilts she made will keep us warm for years to come. Musically she could play guitar and organ but best of all was her joining in a good family jam session playing the accordion. She passed on her love of reading a great novel, gardening as well as the hiding of the last puzzle piece. Until her passing, Joy spent endless hours researching genealogy for both the Shervey and Roshinsky family trees.
Her and Dad were always there when any of their children or grandchildren needed a helping hand. She will be remembered by her warm smile, loving heart and the most beautiful blue eyes.
She will be missed by many family members and dear close friends Bill and Sally Douglas.
A memorial service will be held at a later date when the emotional world events calm down.
A special thank you to Brother Peter Redekop of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of The Latter Day Saints for being there for Mom and performing Her Blessings of Peace and Comfort that helped her take the next step of her journey and be welcomed by Our Lord Jesus Christ.
