October 30, 1945 - October 25, 2018
Judy Mae Huscroft fell asleep at her home on October 25, 2018. As always, she was surrounded by loving family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Judy Mae Strand was born on October 30, 1945 to Harry and Annie Strand. With her siblings Sonny, Alice, Pat, Sally and Karen, she grew up in Moyie. In 1959, the family moved to Cranbrook. She graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1963.

Judy married Allen Douglas Huscroft on August 28, 1965. The young couple moved to Golden in 1966, where they welcomed their children Derek Allen in 1969, Darcy Fredrick in 1971, and Cari Jo Ann in 1973. As a family, they moved to Castlegar in 1976.

Judy enjoyed countless happy times with family and friends. She met many people through her years of work as a meter reader, but closer to her heart was her work as a teacher of the Bible. She was often found puttering in her beautiful garden, occasionally talking to her plants and was always up for a hike in the woods. Games, food and a listening ear were a constant and her ability to make everyone feel loved and welcome are her legacy.

Judy would not want anyone to be overwhelmed with grief. She had strong faith in the Bible based hope of resurrection.

Those who are eagerly waiting to welcome her back are her husband of 53 years, Doug, her children Derek (Gigi), Darcy, and Cari Jo (Cory), her grandchildren Jessica (Jesse), Reeve, Harrison, and Carter, her great granddaughter Jean-Alina, her brother Sonny (Leah), her sisters Alice, Pat (Ken), Sally (Dale), Karen (John), and her brother-in-law Jim (Gail), her many nieces and nephews and her large extended family.

She would want us to think ahead to a time when she will be young, vibrant and laughing. She will be able to work in her garden, cook meals for everyone, and be surrounded by the love she always gave. We will be able to hold her, to chat and laugh with her and we will become nothing but joyful.

A memorial service was held at the Castlegar Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses on November 3, 2018.
