It is with broken hearts that the family

of Kale Robert John Hurd, 28, announce

his sudden and tragic

passing on January 4, 2017 in Castlegar, BC. Kale had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew him. He had a passion for sports, playing hockey and slo pitch baseball for most of his life. Through those teams he made life long friends, many of whom became his

surrogate family. Kale will always

be remembered for his huge heart, his

infectious laugh and his ability to make

everyone around him smile. And no one will ever forget the incredible love he had for his three beautiful children or his unbreakable bond with his ‘princesses’.

Kale is survived by his children Ausker McGivern and Cebastion Hurd of Castlegar, BC and Blaine Hurd of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his loving mother Tami Horvath (Rob Whittle) of Castlegar, BC, stepfather Alex Horvath of Penticton, BC, sister Teighan Hurd (Daves Lafontant) and brother Jordan Hurd (Shelby Nixon), all of Castlegar, BC, his princesses - nieces Ariel Hurd and Sara Hurd, nephews Jonathon Hurd and Davion Hurd, all of Castlegar, BC, grandparents Penny Hurd (Bill Yofonoff), Jerry Hurd (Bernice Hurd), all of Castlegar, BC, uncle Kelly Hurd (Michelle Hurd) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, his loving partner Trina Mathers of Castlegar, BC, and by all of his extended family. Kale was predeceased by his father Blaine Lujanen in 2000 and by his great grandparents Florence and John Paulson.

Funeral services and cremation have already taken place.

The family wishes to thank everyone for all of the love and support they have received during this incredibly difficult time.
