Kare Asheim
Born March 11th 1949
Died February 18th 2010
Kare Asheim’s
family in Norway wants to say Thank You to the city of Castlegar and to his
friends who live there.
He first arrived in Canada in
1975 and decided to settle down in Castlegar in 1977. Thirty-three years later he still worked and lived in the city.
In the start there were several Norwegian families. They started a football club called Castlegar Viking, where Kare was the goalkeeper for many years. After a while the Norwegian
families headed home to Norway, but Kare
stayed behind. He had by that time a big group of friends in and around the city.
Kare was an honest and nice guy who didn’t hesitate helping people who needed his help.
When it comes to his work no problem was
too big to be solved, he always found a good solution and because he was stubborn he always found a way to solve them. He was good at his work and enjoyed working and meeting people.
We all know that there was a lot of people helping and supporting him when he had difficulties, but Kare was as mentioned stubborn and wanted to find the solutions himself.
Over the years we’ve also been told and seen that he helped look after others more than he looked after himself, which was one of his many good qualities.
Kare was a very social person and traveled in the resent years often to Cuba where he also made many friends.
So, it was very sad to get the message that Kare had died on one of his trips to Cuba, his heart stopped and he passed away. Kare had been laid to rest in Norway and is family would like to say
Thank You and give their appreciation to all of his friends in Castlegar for all the help and support you’ve given him throughout the years.
