Karen Marie Mykyte

July 5, 1959 - June 22, 2010

It is with great sadness to announce

the tragic passing of Karen Marie Mykyte

at the young age of 50 years old on June 22, 2010. Karen was born to parents, Robert & Jeanette Pakula, on July 5, 1959 in Nakusp, BC. She moved to Castlegar in 1961 with her parents and

her older brother Linus. While in Castlegar, brothers Bruce and Mike joined the ranks. Karen thought she was doomed now being tormented by 3 brothers. 5 years later, after a cruel joke from her dad saying that it was another boy, Karen finally got the sister, Shelly, that she wanted. In Karen’s early teens, she met the love of her life, her husband of 35 years, Randy Mykyte. Randy and Karen started

building their life together here in Castlegar, where they first added a beautiful daughter, Selina and a

couple years later a son, Jayson. Randy’s job took them to Surrey, BC where Karen stayed home to raise her children, and then later helped look after her one and only grandson, Brandon. As her family grew older, Karen joined the work-force again working at a medical-paper processing plant where she worked until her and Randy decided to re-locate to Kelowna

about 8 years ago. Randy continued his trucking work and Karen found herself a job at Kelowna Wines, where she worked until her retirement only a short month or so ago. Karen was the most

inspirational gardener, with every plant you could ever imagine growing bright and beautiful in her garden.

Everywhere you looked in her garden was Karen’s personal touch, whether it was a chime hanging from a tree, a little figurine welcoming you to her garden, or beautiful lights showing you the way. You couldn’t help but be amazed as you strolled through the yard. She truly had a gift. Karen had the same gift with making her family laugh with her crazy faces and silly sounds. Karen, her mom and her sister, would sit together and laugh over absolutely nothing and they would laugh until tears fell and tummys hurt. All because they loved watching the other laugh. Karen managed to have a special relationship with each and every person in her family and trust me the family is large. Her spirit and warmth will be missed by many.

Karen was predeceased by her Mother-in-law, Erma Mykyte, her father-in-law, John Mykyte, and her Grandpa & Grandma Henke, her Grandpa Pakula, and her Grandpa Ernie Urry. The ones left behind to cope with the hole that has be made with her passing are her husband, Randy Mykyte, her daughter Selina and grandson Brandon, her son Jayson, her parents, Robert & Jeanette Pakula, brothers Linus (Terri) Pakula, Bruce (Angela) Pakula and Mike (Trisha) Pakula, and her one and only sister, Shelly (Lyle) Stoushnow. Karen also had many nieces and nephews which she loved and adored. Karen was so loved and so treasured and will be held close in the hearts of her family and friends. It’s the wonderful memories that her family shared with her that will help them through this difficult time and knowing they have their very own special guardian angel up in Heaven watching

over them. Rest Peacefully Karen....We Love You.
