June 5, 1944 - January 27, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of L. Gayle Edwards on January 27, 2021. Gayle was predeceased by her parents William Arthur (Bud) & Florence (Ruth) Woodford, and stepdaughter Selina Steadman.
Gayle is survived by her husband of 41 years Donald Howard Edwards, her sister L. Joy Woodford, her children; daughter Wendy (Ken) Moffat, son Greg (Sue) Pow, son Ryan Pow, Stepdaughter Corrine (Ben) Edwards. Grandchildren Ashley, Nicole, Meghan, Darci, Johanna, Sean, Jaimie, Araynna and Mason.
Gayle was a kind and gentle soul who loved all without judgment, she was an accomplished artist and quilter. In her retirement years she spent many hours volunteering in the Castlegar community for the Castlegar Library, United Church Thrift Store, and the Castlegar United Church.
She was an Active participant in Castlegar Art Walk until she started to struggle with her health. Gayle left a legacy of friends in all the communities in BC she lived in including Princeton, Merritt, Bralorne, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Prince George, and finally Castlegar.
Thank you to all the health professionals that supported her care, those known (Dr. Jensen, Dr. Houde, Dr. Raju, Nurses: Jessica and Sarah) and the countless others unknown to the family that assisted in helping to keep her comfortable on her journey. Gayle was called home on the anniversary of her Mother's death 3 years hence.
For anyone that wishes to donate in her memory, Gayle supported many organizations over the years including the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and local organizations that would include the Castlegar United Church, Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP) and the SPCA.
A celebration of life will be held in the fall of 2021 post pandemic.
