NOTICE OF PASSING

LEONORA GRETTON CROSSLEY SAW HER 96TH SPRING

OCTOBER 18, 1913 – APRIL 10, 2009

CROSSLEY: Leonora Crossley (nee Woods) was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and moved to Nelson with her family as a young child. Lee married Atkinson Crossley of Nelson with whom she lived for 62 years, enjoying, family, garden, community activity and many creative pursuits. Atkinson and Lee resided first in Nelson, then for many years in Rossland, and retired to Robson. Their retirement was enriched by many winters at their cottage near Joshua Tree, California, where they explored the High Desert and shared a prolific garden with people who did not know that vegetables could be grown on the desert. They also enjoyed travel in Australia. After the death of Atkinson in 1998, Lee moved to Slocan, then in 2001 to the Pavilion in New Denver.

Leonora was predeceased by her husband Atkinson; son Cecil; grandson, Owen Bollerup; and great granddaughter, Gessica Englund. She is survived by daughters Gwen Bollerup (Ross) and Phyllis Del Puppo (Ken) and sons Alfred, James, Roger (Louise) and Ted (Sandra), 15 grandchildren: Sheila, Tasha, Shaun, Soleil, Rowan, Veronica, Maylene, Kealy, Marcy, Brian, Christine, Byron, Ellen, Robyn and Amber, and 14 great grandchildren: Samantha, Trevor, Allison, Colby, Soleil, Mackenzie, Summer Lee, Carly, Jaydan, Abigail, Amelia, Noah, Olivia, and Thomas.

Leonora will be remembered for her loving devotion to family and home, her love of natural beauty, art, music and travel, her spirit of adventure, and her life-long joy of reading. We will all miss her deeply.

We would like to thank the Pavilion staff for their loving care of her and in lieu of flowers, donations would be very much appreciated by the New Denver Pavilion, Box 129, New Denver, BC. V0G 1S0. An afternoon/evening Memorial will be held for Lee at the Bosun Hall in New Denver on July 4th.
