Leslie Godberson of Robson, BC passed away peacefully at home after a courageous fight with cancer, with family by his side. Les is survived by his wife Irene, daughters Reina (Ted) McAfee, Sharon McEwen, Trudy (Roger) Mogg, Lorna (Mike) Ferguson, eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as siblings Arthur, Johnny, Berle, Jane, Roberta and Ann. He was predeceased by brothers Don, David, Neil and son in law Jamie McEwen.
Les was born in High Prairie, Alberta and raised on a farm along with his 9 siblings. Hospitalized for over a year after an accident in which he lost a leg, through his characteristic determination and will power he became gainfully employed with BC Hydro in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Houston, Fauquier and then Robson, retiring as lockkeeper from the Hugh Keenleyside Dam. Les was very active with the Robson Community having served on the water and irrigation board, the Robson Church and cemetery board. Les enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, gardening (even after becoming legally blind several years ago) and his audio books from the CNIB.
No formal service by request and in keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers and an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to either the CNIB or Cancer Society would be appreciated.
A special thanks to Dr Makwadi for his care and dedication to Les in his final years.
