Lillian Neumann

With Tremendous Sorrow we announce the passing for a loving, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Lillian Neumann, passed away suddenly at the age of 88 at Talarico Place, Castlegar BC.

Lillian Neumann (Hildebrandt) was born on January 9, 1923 in New Serupta, Alberta at the age of 3 her family moved to Vancouver, BC where she was raised. Lillian met and married the love of her life Otto Neumann in 1940. Lillian gave birth to their only son Herb Neumann in 1942. They made their homestead in Lulu Island, Vancouver where both Lillian and Otto were employed with Evans Products. In 1955 Lillian and Otto moved to Rock Creek where they owned the well Known Prospector Pub (Rock Creek Hotel). In 1960 they moved to Rossland, BC where they purchased the Orwell Hotel (Steamshovel Pub), In 1965 they then moved to Castlegar (Kinnaird) where Otto managed the Hi Arrow Arms Hotel and Lillian retired where she spent many years with her family.

Lillian enjoyed cooking and cleaning and playing cards, she loved to entertain and spend time with her friends. Lil loved curling, bowling, knitting and sewing, When Lillian was not spending time in her kitchen or playing with her grandchildren you could always find Lillian lost in her rose gardens which she loved and nutured. Lil was very proud to be a lifetime member of Pythian sisters. Lillian was also a big sports fanatic her favorites being hockey and baseball. Lil spent many hours in the parks where you would find her cheering on her grandchildren whatever sport it may have been.

Lil was predeceased by her husband Otto Neumann in 2002, her son Herb in 2000, brother Bill and her sister Helen. She is survived by her sisters, Annie, Alice, Eileen and Betty. Lil was also survived by her Daughter in law Jan, her 3 grandchildren, Deanna(Will), Darla and Brent and her 3 great grandchildren, Jordyn, London and Rowen. She will be sadly missed by those that she loved and cared for.

The family of Lil would like to express their very special thanks to Heather Brady who was a beautiful gift to Grandma, and to all of the friends and family that kept Lil's spirit alive. Thanks to the nurses and staff that did care for Lillian in her last years at Talarico Place.

The service for Lillian will be held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers please make your donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
