Luba Rezansoff of Thrums, BC passed away on April 28, 2019 at the age of 91 at Talarico Place, Castlegar, BC.
Luba was born a twin on March 12, 1928 in Thrums, BC to parents Peter and Lucy Maloff. Her parents were farmers and she grew to love gardening. She took pride in her gardens and would love to share her produce and flower bouquets with many friends and family.
She married Alex Rezansoff on May 1, 1947 and they resided in Thrums, BC. They also lived in Vancouver for a short time where Alex worked. She was a member of the U.S.C.C. and participated in many choirs and functions of the U.S.C.C. Their home was always the center for entertaining extended family, friends and even travelers from abroad.
Luba is predeceased by her husband, Alex, her brothers, Peter, Walter, and recently her twin brother John and her parents Peter and Lucy Maloff. She is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Maloff and Nayda Johnstone; her children, Philip (Marilyn) from Fresnco, Calif. and Elaine Makortoff (Gregg Ziegler) from Thrums, BC. Also her grandchildren Rena Roblin (Al) from Calgary, Alta., Sherry Elias (Brent) from South Slocan, BC, Edina Brown (Tom), from Spokane, Wash., Neva Popenoe (Steven) from Fresnco, Calif. and her great-grandchildren, Haley, Shayla and Lexi Elias; Emeliya and Evelyn Brown; Zoya and River Popenoe.
Funeral service will be held at the Brilliant Cultural Center on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10 am with Peter Zaytsoff officiating the ceremony and burial at the Brilliant Cemetery to follow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jordan Wren & his staff at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel. Donations in Luba's honor can be made to the USCC publication "Iskra" at the Brilliant Cultural Center.
A big thanks to the nursing staff, caregivers and Doctor Merritt at Talarico Place, who were compassionate and caring to Luba for many years.
