It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lucy Rigby on Wednesday November 2nd, 2016. Lucy was born on February 7th 1940 in Champion Creek (Blagodatnoye) to Willliam and Matrusha Postnikoff. Lucy was the youngest daughter of five children.
Growing up on the Doukhobour settlement at Champion Creek made Lucy a lover of all animals, particularly cats. She appreciated nature and everything that was a part of it.
Lucy married Ken Rigby on June 26th, 1961 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Following her
marriage, Lucy moved to Castlegar, where
she lived for the rest of her life. Lucy was blessed with three children Edward, Shirley, and Steven.
Lucy was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. She welcomed everyone into her home and there was nothing she enjoyed more than an interesting conversation with a good friend that might just drop by.
Lucy’s final years were challenging after a stroke changed her life. She spent her last six years residing at Castleview Care Centre.
Lucy is predeceased by her father, mother, and four siblings. She is survived by son Ed (Julie), grandchildren Samantha and Trevor, son Steven, and daughter Shirley. We would like to thank the staff at Castleview Care
Centre and Dr. Merritt for their
compassionate care in her final years.
