Sept. 7, 1911 - Nov. 11, 2009
Lucy Zeeben passed away peacefully
Nov. 11, 2009. “Whatever you do in
life, do it with love.” Those were words
spoken often by Lucy, whether working in the garden or speaking with her many children and grandchildren.
Born in 1911 in Rossland, Lucy was pre-deceased by her husband Peter in
1993 and her daughter Anne in April 2009. Lucy is survived by her sons William and Joe, her five grandsons her four granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren and two great, great
grandchildren. Lucy lived a long and eventful life, always proud of her Russian heritage and full of love for her family, community and her home. She loved singing traditional psalms, growing flowers and nurturing her large garden. We remember Lucy for her wisdom, kindness and the stories she told of her life. Among those was the incredible story of her trip around the world, which included a return to her ancestral
home. Lucy and Peter visited Georgia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
Lucy lived in Kinnaird from 1950 until 1965, moving to Castlegar where she and Peter had a home until 1980. They moved at that time into a home they built in Ootischenia. In 1999, Lucy moved to Abbotsford where she lived out her final years close to her son William and
daughter in-law Arlette.
