May 31, 1943 - December 23, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maralyn Elizabeth Plitt on December 23, 2020. Maralyn was born on May 31, 1943 in Ottawa, ON and passed away peacefully with family by her side in Castlegar, BC.
Maralyn's parents relocated the family from Ottawa to New Westminster when she was a teenager. It was here that Maralyn met Gord and they married in 1964. The couple adopted twins Corrine and Jeff in 1973 and eventually had Cheryl in 1985. After numerous moves, they finally settled in Castlegar in 1997.
Maralyn was a strong, independent woman who touched the lives of so many through her volunteer work, the church, travels around town and in her care home(s). She battled and persevered many different health issues up until her passing through her unwavering faith and belief in God.
Maralyn was predeceased by her brother, Rodney Shipclark (Sandra), and is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gordon Plitt, children, Cheryl Buday (Logan), Corrine Plitt (Dyan) and Jeff Plitt (Brenda), grandchildren Danya Trustcott-Plitt and Drayson Truscott-Plitt, sisters, MaryAnn Beagle (Ed), Judy Adamson (Bob), and twins Jane Swint (Bill) and Jean Schaffer (Ted), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held, with burial at the Kinnaird Park Memorial Cemetary. Lutheran Pastor, Kai Buck, will officiate the service and we thank him for the visits he made to Mom in her last weeks with us.
A special thank you goes out the staff at Castleview Care Centre and Dr. Vasil for the care and support they provided.
