December 13, 1938 - July 29, 2011

Margaret passed away peacefully with family at her side in the evening of July 29, 2011 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.


Margaret Kun was born in Oliver, B. C. and grew up on a 10 acre orchard where she developed her great cooking and gardening skills. During her school years she won many trophies for her prolific typing abilities and was the top typist in the entire Okanagan. She was also editor of the school newspaper during her graduation year. Upon graduation she moved to Vancouver where she worked for Alcan and BC Telephone (Telus).


Margaret married Edward Pondelicek in 1959 and moved to Rogers Pass for a few months and then located to Castlegar where they had 2 children, Debra and Gregory. Margaret worked in the office at the Pulp Mill and in the Personnel office of the Sawmill. She was also instrumental in the start up of the Nelson University.


Margaret liked to travel and spent her winters in Yuma where she amassed many friends, many of which come to visit her yearly in Castlegar. She arranged the yearly camp outs to get many of the

Yuma Snowbirds together in the summer.


Margaret is survived by her husband Edward, daughter Debra Nielson (Glen) of Castlegar, son Gregory Pondelicek (Leah) of Whistler, B.C., grandchildren Amber Nielsen (Kent) of Kelowna, Scott Nielson (Lauren) of Kelowna, and Sierra Pondelicek of Whistler, and sister Irene Battison of Lake Country, B.C.


Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses, aides, and the many family and friends who were so great to Margaret throughout this time in her life. She was so grateful for all your thoughtful words and support.


A CELEBRATION OF LIFE open to all family and friends will be held at the Club House of Stellar Place, 2210 Columbia Avenue, Castlegar on August 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
