MCKENZIE, Margot Lynn
Oct.1, 1946 - July 26, 2009 after a brave battle against lung cancer.
Margot was born in Abbotsford, BC to Colin and Dorothy McKenzie.
The family moved in 1957 to Castlegar, BC and Margot graduated from
Stanley Humphries Secondary School in 1965. She attended Mount
Royal College in Calgary, Alberta before returning to Castlegar and
working at Selkirk College Library in 1970. In 1973, she began a
banking career with CIBC, Main Branch , Vancouver, BC, starting
downstairs in the "cage" sorting culled bills and working her way
up as a teller, and finally a securities officer. She continually
took courses while working in the bank and received the Fellowship
of the Institute of Canadian Bankers in 1980. Margot enjoyed
traveling in the 80's and 90's , especially on cruises and went to
Mexico, Hawaii, New York, the British Isles, and the
Mediterranean. After her retirement in 2001, Margot pursued her
passion for Art History and was attending UBC towards a History of
Art Degree. She was 3 credits short of completing the degree when
she became ill. Margot is predeceased by her parents and survived
by brothers, Bill (Diane) and John ( Sandy), her sister, Heather
(Glenn), nieces Tricia, Lea, Allison. Joscelyn, Emma and Anne and
nephews Mark and Neil. A memorial service will be held on
Thursday, July 30th, 11:00 am at Mt Pleasant Universal Funeral
Home, 306 East 11th Ave, Vancouver with a reception to follow.
