It is with great sadness that the family of Marlies Waite announces her passing at Castleview Care Centre on July 26, 2020.
Marlies was born to parents Lucy and Carl Brodman on March 8, 1929 at Ettingen, Switzerland. They immigrated to Canada when Marlies was seven years old and settled in Slocan, BC.
Marlies married her husband Morris Waite in 1953 and had three daughters together. They were married for 53 years when Morris passed away in 2006.
Marlies loved to cook and spend time with family. She enjoyed playing cribbage and bingo. Back in her younger years she enjoyed skiing, tennis, and was an avid golfer. Besides being a homemaker she worked for Bosse's Jewelry Store with her sister Lucy Bosse. Lucy and Marlies (Thelma and Louise) could be seen in later years riding along Columbia Avenue with their scooters to go shopping. She was a strong and sweet lady always welcoming friends and family into her home. She will be greatly missed by all her family and her memories will live on forever in our hearts.
Left to mourn are her daughters Gloria (Frank) Steenvoorden of Spokane WA, Monica (Richard) Humphries of Medicine Hat, AB, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Morris Waite and daughter Barbara Waite.
A funeral at St. Rita's Catholic Church will be held at a later date.
