July 1, 1924 - January 15, 2019
Marjorie Anne Culley (nee Parker) born July 1, 1924 in Mazenod, Saskatchewan, died peacefully January 15, 2019 in her own home.

She will be lovingly remembered by Linda (Earl), Lorren (Lisa), Ken and Susan (Kevin), kathy, daughter-in-law, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister Patsy (Earl) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert (Ab), brothers Bruce and Doug, and son-in-law Ron Acton.

Mom grew up on the farm in Saskatchewan, became a teacher and moved to Rossland, BC to teach. This is where she met and married her Albert in 1948. They moved to Kinnaird in 1951 with their young family to live in the house Ab built.

Mom resumed teaching grade 2 in 1963, retiring in 1977. In 1979, Harold Webber asked her to man the Travel Desk at the Castlegar Savings Credit Union. It became Maple Leaf Travel, and she was there until 1985.

After the birth of her first granddaughter in 1977, she took up photography. She became proficient, winning many awards. Not wanting to be left behind, she learned how to operate a computer, iPad and cellphone too.

She and Ab travelled extensively all over the world. She loved the camaraderie of her Bridge Club, Camera Club, the Teachers Lunch Bunch and Tuesday Golf Buddies. Her garden, particularly the poppies, was spectacular in bloom. Her poppy seeds have been spread throughout the province by people taking seeds. She was proud to be able to golf free of charge after turning 90. She found comfort and reassurance from Desiderata and other down-to-earth writings.

The family is grateful for Dr. Smart's care and the personnel at the Sindi Hawkins Cancer Centre in Kelowna. Should you wish, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation (www.bccancerfoundation.com), Sindi Alhuwalia Hawkins Centre for the Southern Interior or the War Amps (waramps.ca)
