July 7, 1938 - December 26, 2018
With heavy hearts the family of Marvin Monsen wish to announce his sudden passing at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on December 26, 2018.

Marvin was born on July 7, 1938 in Shellbrook Sask to parents Norman and Minnie Monsen. On April 4, 1964 Marvin married Janice Preiss and together they raised their 3 children, Stephanie (Loren), Duane (Cindy), and Janine (Trevor). Marvin became a grandfather in 1987 and over the years, happily welcomed 6 grandchildren (Andy, Amanda, Laura, Derek, Ruby and Dylan) and 2 great grandchildren (Logan and Olivia) to the family.

Marvin worked for many years as a faller and later a logging contractor in the Cariboo and Prince George area. He was one of the founding members of the Hixon Volunteer Fire Department, rising to Deputy Chief. Marvin spent many hours building the fire hall, working on the apparatus, training and responding to calls in Hixon.

Janice and Marvin retired to Creston BC in 2001, recently moving to Castlegar, BC. He enjoyed farming, gardening, reading and spending time with his family and friends.

The Monsen family would like to thank the Castlegar Fire Department; Castlegar BC Ambulance Service; the Emergency Room doctors, nurses and admin staff at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital; and Bill Strilaeff at Castlegar Funeral Home. You all left your families, on a holiday, to help ours. Thank you!!

There will be no funeral as per Marvin's request.
