In loving memory ~
Dad was proof of just how much living you can cram into 95 years of a life well lived. Born in Ipswich, England into a large family of 5 children. W.W II scattered the family and he and his mother came to Canada. Next was obtaining an education, a trade, and catching the eye of a certain Ice Company employee named Patricia Meierhoff who soon became Patricia Livingstone and mother of us three kids.
In our younger days we moved to Haney where he built his first house, then it was up to Kitimat for construction until in 1963 It was time to settle his family. Castlegar and the pulpmill were his choice. Here he would work as an electrician until his retirement. Once in Castlegar they built another house that they lived in until mom's passing 9 years ago.
An avid reader, he never stopped learning. As children our house was full of books and magazines on every subject imaginable and he read them all.
Always a man with strong opinions, he served as a Castlegar Alderman for many years and his hand was involved in many projects we all enjoy today.
At work he was a strong union man, shop steward and often a pain in the company's ass. He enjoyed it tremendously.
Our mother encouraged him to travel, and so they did. All over Canada, the U.S., China, Australia, Africa and Europe. Museums, balloon rides, photo safaris, camel rides, and more. All shared and enjoyed.
After retiring it was more travel, elder hostels, gardening, wine time + cards with Julie and Mike.
After mom's passing he stayed in their house until he moved to his third new home, built for him on Vicki and Alf's farm in Robson. Here he could sit and watch the horses and wildlife.
Many thanks to his Granddaughter Christy for the excellent care in his final years.
Dad is survived by son Mike (Elaine), daughters Julie(Mike) ,Vicki (Alf), 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and their families. Predeceased by his parents, and siblings, his wife Patricia, and grandsons Matthew and Stephen.
A family gathering to be held at a later date.
R.I.P Dad
