Nettie Soobotin

With sad hearts the family of Nettie Soobotin of Blueberry Creek announces her passing at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 11, 2010, blessed with 79 years of life.

Nettie was born in Grand Forks on March 18, 1930 to parents Polly and Mike Astafooroff. In 1950, she met and married Alec Soobotin and for a few years the young couple and their 2 children followed jobs around several places until finally settling in Blueberry Creek.

Nettie was a very dedicated employee and even though she was working full-time managed to attain her grade 12 equivalency. Before retirement, she worked in the kitchen of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for 20 years. Nettie enjoyed gold-panning, traveling, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and reading.

Left to mourn her loss are her loving husband of 59 years Alec, son Alan, daughter Gloria, grandchildren Brittney, Krista(Alan), Justin, Chas and twin Roxanne and Shane(Gloria) and sister Lucille Faminoff.

Funeral Services were held at Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 with interment at the Shoreacres Cemetary.
