January 7, 1922 - April 14, 2019
We sadly announce the passing of Nick Shkuratoff on April 14, 2019. Nick was born in Brilliant, B.C. January 7, 1922 and moved to Lundbreck, Alberta at a young age. He moved back to B.C. in his 20's where he met and married his wife of 69 years Pauline. Nick moved to Castlegar in 1965 and worked as a steam engineer at SHSS. Nick was a cowboy at heart and enjoyed telling stories to his grandchildren of his younger days busting broncos in Alberta. He enjoyed getting out into the mountains huckleberry picking, getting firewood, and doing odd jobs around the house.
Nick is survived by his wife Pauline, his children Stan (Ranee) Shkuratoff, Lynn (Dennis) Robinson, grandchildren Chris, Tyler, Jordan, Greg, Autumn, Chris, Kelly and Stacey, greatgrandchildren Jordan Jr., Josh, Cash, Soren, Odin and sister Beatrice (Louis) Verigin. Nick was predeceased by his son Nick Jr. and granddaughter Janine.
A funeral service will be held at the Brilliant Cultural Centre on April 23, 2019 at 10:00 am with burial to follow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
