Olga was born on September 21st 1929 to George and Mary Koftinoff in Ootischenia. She had 1 brother and 4 sisters, George Koftinoff, Polly Rilkoff, Doris Konkin, Tannis Putney and Judy Kalesnikoff. As a young woman she seasonally picked fruit in the Okanagan and later worked in the packing house in Osoyoos. She married Walter Gorkoff on December 17th 1949 and lived in Brilliant for 2 years. In 1952 they moved to Robson and settled in for the next forty years raising 3 boys. Joe, Ken and Wally.

In 1992 Walter built their retirement home in Ootischenia which Olga enjoyed till 2007. Her next move was to Stellar Place. Olga loved her gardens in Robson and brought this garden love to Ooteschenia. She even managed to bring this gift of gardening to her 8 x 8 garden in Stellar Place from where she somehow still had plenty to share. Over many years Olga was active in the USCC cooking group and many other clubs and organizations.

Olga never had daughters but always had a unique relationship with her many nieces and loved them very much. She had a loving way of making each of them feel very special. Olga always had a special place in her heart for her 2 grandsons Quinn and Gavin.

She will be sadly missed as a mother, Baba and loving friend to many whose lives she contributed to so positively. Through her life she contributed generously and kindly to the people in her life by being a great listener and giving gentle wise counsel whenever needed.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Castleview for their compassionate care during Moms final days and to Peter Zaytsoff for officiating Olgas service which was held at Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Thursday April 21, 2016. Donations in Olgas name may be made to the Iskra. At Olga’s request she will be cremated and laid to rest alongside her son Wally in Brilliant Cemetery.
