Pete Cheveldave passed away at Hardy View Lodge (Jack Annesley Manor) January 30, 2009. He was born on Oct. 05, 1925 at Brilliant, BC, the youngest son of Pete M. and Polly Cheveldave. Pete received very little education going only to the third grade. He worked for The Kootenay Engineering company at the Brilliant dam in 1943. An accident on the job, losing his right arm to and including his elbow moved him to work for BC Forest Products on Vancouver Island in 1945 as a signalman at a logging camp. In 1949, he broke his wrist at the camp. He then went to work for William Valdie & Sons in 1952, until 1959. And that time he retired. Pete was united in marriage to Polly Nazaroff in 1955 at Brilliant, B.C. and moved his family to Grand Forks in 1960.

Pete was predeceased by his parents, wife Polly, brother Mike, and sister Mary.


Pete is survived by 3 children, Peter (Grand Forks), May (Kelly Strukoff) (Grand Forks), Jack (Burnaby). He has 5 grandchildren, Jennifer, Theresa, Michael, Becki, Matt and 2 great grandchildren, Jade and Hailey.


Pete will be greatly missed by his family.
