It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pete Soukeroff at Talarico place on September 14, 2019 at the age of 86.
Pete was born in Pass Creek on August 26, 1933 to Pete and Annie (Streleoff). He was one of 8 children.
He married his love, Molly Shkuratoff of Winlaw, on July 24, 1954. They made their home in Winlaw, where they raised 6 children.
As a young teen he went to work alongside his father, where they worked on a sawmill, horse logging. He knew how to drive logging truck, and became an excellent Faller.
When he moved to Winlaw he worked as a labourer at the Hugh Keenley Side Dam, then for Triangle Pacific in Slocan as their Faller. In 1978, he started his own Logging Contracting Company with his son Craig. They worked for 5 years together before Craig started his own company, and Pete was able to provide employment for his young son Dale. Bell Pole was his last employer before retirement.
He loved huckleberry, Suziki and mushroom picking and fishing. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with his family. He was an animal lover and kept many on his farm. He also enjoyed playing his harmonica and accordion. He cared very deeply for his family and home.
Left to mourn his loss, daughter, Nadine (Andy) Evin, sons, Craig (Sandra), Dale (Tracy), daughter-in-law Gail. Brother, Bill (Nettie), sisters, Anne Ordog, and Mabel Priebe. 12 Grandchildren, and 4 Great Grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Annie, Brothers, Fred and George, Sisters, Tina Teneycke, and Helen Tereposky. Daughters, Sandra and Eleanor, Son, Eli and loving wife Molly.
Funeral service was held on September 26, 2019 at Slocan Park Hall, with the interment at Perry's Siding Cemetery.
Family would like to thank the staff at Talarico Place, Dr. Murray, Sid Malakoff, Bill Strilaeff, Slocan Park Cooking Group and singers. Thank you to everyone for all the heartfelt messages, flowers, food and love and support to our family.
