April 7, 2022
Peter was born in Thrums and lived there most of his life. He was a loving husband to his beloved Sue and was an outstanding dad who taught his children to be extraordinary human beings, teaching them by including them in everything he did and learned. A proud Deda to his grandchildren, more than an uncle to many, a great uncle to a special few.
Peter was a Doukhobor in the purest sense of the word, and he loved being a farmer. His land was an extension of his consciousness, and his hands were always in the soil that he nourished, the plants he grew, and the fruits and vegetables he shared with his family and friends. He was always on his tractor mowing and baling the hay fields, something he loved doing every summer of every year of his life.
Peter was a curious man and he was an extensive and involved reader; seeker of truth in words, this world, and other worlds. He had a great passion for listening to music and was most moved by the deep, spiritual and uplifting voices of the Doukhobor choirs. His musical tastes moved from opera to classical and everything in between.
Peter will also be remembered for the welcoming atmosphere at The Bookstore, where he engaged in many eclectic conversations with old friends, new friends, and acquaintances alike. When he wasn't reading or farming, he spent time writing emails connecting to friends and family in other corners of the world.
As a young man Peter wildly skied the slopes of Red Mountain, partook in rally races in his black MG convertible roadster, attended UBC where he immersed himself in rigorous academics and theatre productions alike, and studied photography at Banff School of the Arts.
Peter will be deeply missed and always remembered by his family who love him very much and told him how much he was loved every day of his life.
On April 7th, surrounded by his family, he decided to leave his well-worn body and explore other dimensions of the universe. He knew we would all be alright if he left us now. He did good.
