On sunny Monday April 24, 2017 Peter Brittany was walking along a woodland trail at Open Bay with Lydia, the love his life, and in a sunlit spot, Peter suddenly passed away. Peter truly lived his 77 years and had many very successful careers including Grocer, Baker, Cook, RCN Seaman, Diver, Adult Student, Steam Engineer First Class, Retiree, Community Volunteer and in his most recent years, a Grocer yet again. Peter was gregarious, a friend to all good people and was deeply loved by many. He was adopted into the Haida Nation as “Galagaway”. Peter’s flaws and mistakes were few as he worked hard to learn from them and to always be a better person. Peter leaves his beloved wife Lydia and brother David Witso of Vancouver along with many generations of cousins, hundreds of friends, colleagues and other acquaintances in mourning. At the end of his life, he was happy, loved, in love, anticipating good things to come, and at peace. Rest in peace Peter, you were the best husband, brother and friend anyone could have ever asked for. Remember Peter’s many traits and always, pass it forward.

The Celebration of Peter’s Life will be on Sunday May 28th, 2017 at Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge in the Grand Hall at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Peter’s preferred charitable organizations: Quadra Seniors Housing; Quadra Island Salmon Enhancement Society; or the North Island Avian and Raptor Rescue Society.
