June 2, 1948 - February 28, 2025
In loving memory ~
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Peter Perepolkin on February 28, 2025. Peter passed away peacefully at his home in Glade, BC, at the age of 76, surrounded by his loving family.
Peter was born June 2, 1948, in Nelson, BC. In his youth, Peter loved to travel and often regaled listeners with stories of his trails from Mexico to Haida Gwaii. He had a love of folk music and a beautiful singing voice, that his family cherished. While he had many occupations throughout his life, he had a gift for sales, and helping people find what they were searching for. This path culminated into the start of his own business, Kootenay Biznet and Signs, and Kootenay Gallery of Art. He ran his storefront in Castlegar for almost 20 years until semi-retirement.
Peter's big heart and generous spirit made him a treasured member of his community. He loved to meet people and aimed to leave this world a better place. He dedicated many years of his life to volunteering and served as Chairman of the Castlegar Chamber of Commerce, CCUB Trust Fund Board, Tarry's Community Hall Society, and served on multiple boards within his Doukhobor Community.
While Peter loved his daughters unconditionally, he found immense joy in his grandchildren, who lit up his life and filled him with pride. In his later years, Peter experienced many health challenges, which he strove bravely to overcome. He will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing he has returned home, enveloped in love and free of pain.
Peter is survived by his wife Marge, daughters Lara and Lisa, and grandchildren, Ayden, Ethan, Quinn, Evan and Natasha. We would like to thank everyone for the support we received while helping Peter transition to this next phase of his journey. Your generous gifts of food allowed us to focus on Peter's care and comfort, while your words of sympathy gave us solace.
In keeping with Peter's wishes, a cremation will take place and no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, BC Cancer Foundation, ISKRA Publications, or a charity of your choice.
A special thank you to Dr. Selena Demenoff for your compassion and genuine care given to Peter. Thank you to Palliative and Community Nursing for your guidance and support, and to the Castlegar Funeral Home for your professional service.
